The Development Office assists Schott Communities in securing adequate funding for its programs and services.  The Director of Development works with the Development Committee to plan and execute the Program.

Special Events, Annual Fund and Major Gifts Program

The Special Events, Annual Fund and Major Gifts Program focuses on increasing revenue for Schott Communities.  It consists of many activities:

• Maintenance of an active and accurate data base for donors and sponsors;
• Maintenance of an active and accurate mailing list;
• Organizing and coordinating major fundraising functions, such as the 5K Run and Walk and Tennis Pro-Am at Weston Hills Country Club;
• Assisting other Directors with small fundraisers;
• Preparing mailings for fundraising;
• Networking with area organizations and businesses to promote Schott activities and interests;
• Researching and pursuing potential sources of new revenue, including grants.

Development Committee

Development Committee members are volunteers from area businesses and organizations.  With the Development Director, they plan, coordinate and execute the major fundraising activities of Schott Communities.

In addition the Committee assists the agency in its networking efforts and with small fundraisers initiated by Schott staff.

Because the work of the Committee is so vital to the financial health of Schott Communities, members are asked to make the following commitments:

• Attend Development Committee meetings;
• Assist in planning and carrying out major fundraisers in the year;
• Assume committee leadership for two of the three fundraisers;
• Identify and encourage new membership for the Committee;
• Involve others as volunteers to assist with the fundraisers;
• Be available occasionally to speak to organizations or agencies on behalf of Schott Communities;
• Be willing to seek sponsorships and in-kind donations for major fundraising events.

Membership on the Development Committee carries with it serious expectations. For this purpose the Committee seeks individuals who understand that service is an important dimension of one’s personal development and that commitment to a worthy cause is life giving.
